Mental Health & Wellbeing

At Dunstall Park Primary School we are committed to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of every member of our school community. We believe mental health is just as important as physical health and that, through a nurturing and supportive environment, children and families can thrive.
What We Do to Promote Mentally Healthy Minds
We take a whole-school approach to wellbeing. As a trauma-informed and attachment-aware school, we support the emotional needs of our pupils with compassion and understanding.
Our approach includes:
- Regular PSHE Lessons with My Happy Mind + to help children explore emotions, relationships, and build resilience.
- My Happy Mind programme to support positive mental habits and emotional regulation.
- Wellbeing Assemblies focused on kindness, respect, resilience, positivity, emotional awareness, and mental health.
- Staff support for pupils who need extra emotional support.
- Calm Spaces in Every Classroom so children can self-regulate in a safe, quiet area.
- Breakout Calm Zones for those who need time away from busy environments.
Support for Children & Young People
