Music

Dunstall Park will follow the EYFS and National Curriculum for Music.
Weekly timetabled Music lessons will take place from Year 1 to Year 6. Music will also
feature regularly as part of the EYFS curriculum and the Expressive Arts and Design
ELGs.
Pupils will have access to a wide range of musical instruments during their time at
Dunstall Park. They will sing regularly in lessons and assemblies and use percussion
instruments to compose and perform their own pieces of music.
All children will have the opportunity to learn two instruments (e.g. the ocarina in KS1
and the ukelele in KS2).
All children will have the opportunity to take part in a class performance each year.
This will be performed for the parents and other members of the school community.
All children will have the opportunity to take part in a school choir that will perform
termly across the year in school and/or for the local community, with the view to taking
part in the Young Voices Choir in the future.
Children will access an hour of Music curriculum each week and will have space to
rehearse and perform. They will also enjoy live and recorded music performances each
year.
